What is your imprint on the Earth?
On 25th March 2017 it is Earth Hour. A day dedicated to unite people around the world to help protect our planet. It is one of the largest environmental events in history organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Each year millions of people around the globe will switch off (lights) for Earth Hour to shine a light on the need for climate action. Time : 8.30pm - 9.30pm local time for Earth Hour. For more information please click here now> So in honor of Earth Hour this week I wanted to bring your attention to your wonderful feet. Our feet are responsible for walking us in many directions in life, they help us to dance, keep us walking as an upright human, and are our direct connection to the Earth. As a conscious movement guide I often sense my feet as my ‘anchors', this reminds me of my connection to the Earth, and helps me to feel more grounded, centred and rooted.
After spending a lot of time living in Asia, I love the practise of Reflexology. Our feet can tell us a lot about the whole health of our body. Thank you Wikipedia: Reflexology, or zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet, hands, or ears with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on what reflexologists claim to be a system of zones and reflex areas that they say reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. Did you know? One foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments and 7000 nerve endings. Pretty amazing. So this week I invite you to treat your feet with tender loving care. As a way to honor Mother Earth lets take off our shoes as often as we can, and sense the earth beneath us, the soil, the sand, the grass, and sense, what is your imprint on the Earth? Consciously move your feet in gentler ways and become more mindful of relaxing your feet and sensing the connection to our primary energy source ~ THE EARTH beneath you. How heavy is your impact? We can all make a difference, every small conscious act makes a big difference on the Earth. Either by being more mindful about our food waste, living a more sustainable life, recycling, or buying food that is grown locally and in season. There are so many ways to help lessen our impact on the Earth. EarthHour.Org is one way, that each year in March, they make as much noise as possible for action on climate change. Throwing parties, hosting events and generally celebrating this amazing planet we call "home."
